From Leadership
(church) n. 1, an edifice for religious worship 2, a body or gathering of Christian believers.
While we meet in a nice facility, we realize that a church building is, after all, just concrete and steel. And the programs and traditions in some churches - maybe the one you grew up in - are just that: programs and traditions.

That's not church.

A church is people. People matter to God. And at Fellowship Bible Church, people matter to us, too. We're a busy suburban church right in the middle of a busy world. But no matter how busy we are, our focus is always on people - like you!

Our Leadership These truths form the foundation of what we believe. The genuine Christian life, as practiced and taught at Fellowship Bible Church, is always in agreement with these basic, yet profound, realities.

To lead through service and example. What better form of leadership than to follow Christ's method while He was on earth? Fellowship Bible Church holds leadership in the highest regard by selecting Godly men who depend on God to direct the church in its mission and purpose.

Whether you're looking for a new church home or visiting on business or vacation, we invite you to come worship with us.

What is an "Elder?"

Elders are men who are spiritually qualified to lead and shepherd the community of believers in the setting of the local church. The Bible provides qualifications for the position of Elder, most notably in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

Elders are responsible before God for ensuring that biblical principles are taught, protecting against false teaching, overseeing the affairs of the church, and otherwise providing Christ-like leadership that ensures the spiritual well-being of the church.

Following the model of the New Testament church, we are committed to an Elder - led form of leadership and authority. (Acts 14:23; 20:17-31: I Timothy 5:17; Titus 1:5; I Peter 5:1-3; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9).

This is in contrast to the one-man led or congregationally led church. We believe that scriptures are very specific in the matter of Elder leadership. Both Paul and Peter were very intentional about appointing Elders in the churches they helped to establish. Therefore, we have established a group of Biblically-qualified men to lead Fellowship.

We follow the Elders as they, under Jesus Christ, the Head, lead, guide and shepherd the Body for its own good and the good of its ministry to the world.

Our leadership model calls for some Elders to function as Guiding Elders and some as Shepherding Elders. Guiding Elders do just that - they make decisions determining the course of the church and its ministry. Shepherding Elders will focus their efforts on meeting individual church members' needs through prayer, outreach, visitation, networking, and other means.

We've prepared 2 documents that describe our position in more detail. The first is a
Cover Letter PDF regarding our model, and the second is a document describing our Leadership Model PDF itself. Both of these documents are in pdf format, and can be downloaded by clicking the links on the left. You can also download Acrobat Reader if you need it.
